Accessibility testing: How to correctly evaluate Section 508

Agenda:

"More than 240 businesses across the country have been sued in federal court over website accessibility since the beginning of 2015. Similar litigation has been brought against universities on the grounds that the free online courses they offer aren’t captioned for deaf users, and against ride-sharing services because their smartphone apps lack text-to-speech capability for blind users."  (LA Times, 2017)

This webinar dives into the theory vs practice of optimizing websites and mobile apps for Accessibility. Accessibility guidelines are available online (Section 508 of the Americans with Disabilities Act and W3C's WCAG 2.0 guidelines) but while following the guidelines is relatively easy, actual accessibility is more nuanced and difficult to fully optimize with, without including users with disabilities

Accessibility testing, like usability testing, involves actually testing your website or  mobile app with end-users. In this webinar, we will discuss this critical UX technique for optimizing accessibility.

Agenda

  1. Accessibility: Section 508 compliance gaps
  2. Theory vs Reality in Accessibility compliance
  3. Testing with users with Disabilities: where to start
  4. What Accessibility Testing looks like...
  5. Q&A

“Seeing examples and best practices was great. Compared to other trainings I’ve attended, in this training I learned a lot! This training gave me a different perspective on how to think about UI’s.
